Guidelines and Incentives for New Residential Development and Line Extensions

Incentives are Available for Subdivision Developments, Line Extensions for new homes, and the New Homes Program

For Subdivision Developments (Underground Service)

  • Developer is responsible for:
    • The primary cable, (to be purchased from MEC) ditching, backfilling, conduit, equipment pad, underground enclosure, underground secondary and dwelling service.
    • Mountain Electric will supply transformers and riser poles, and assume responsibility of ownership and maintenance of the system after inspection and approval.
  • Rebates and Incentives:
    • Developer will receive money back upon attachment of each new development service connect meeting requirements.
    • $450 cash for ea all electric attachment
    • $250 cash for each all electric (except primary heat) attachment.
    • Limited to 1 rebate per structure.
    • A 5 year contract is required.
    • Rebates available for 1st 5 years only.
    • Each structure dwelling must be a min. of 1,200 sq. ft. of conditioned space.
    • Refunds cannot exceed CIA cost


Subdivision Developments (
Overhead Service)

  • Developer is responsible for:
    • The first 4 poles @ $900 each, next 5 poles @ $1,800 ea, , and any additional poles require MEC GM approval.
    • Mountain Electric Will install all poles and assume ownership and maintenance.
  • Rebates and Incentives:
    • Developer will receive cash back upon attachment of each new development service connect.
    • $900 cash for each all electric attachment.
    • $500 cash for each all electric (except primary heat).
    • A 5-year contract is required.
    • Rebates available for 1st 5 years only.
    • Each structure dwelling must be a min. of 1200 sq. ft. of heated space
    • Refunds cannot exceed CIA cost


New Homes

  • Rebates up to $400 are available under the Residential New Homes Program. Ask for details and requirements.


Individual Residential line Extension (
Underground Service)

  • Mountain Electric will supply first 500 feet of primary cable, supply the transformer, and take ownership/maintenance after inspection and approval.
  • Developer will support the cost of primary cable in excess of 500 feet, ditching, conduit, transformer pad , secondary line, and dwelling service.
  • Rebate cash of $450 cash will be paid for each all-electric attachment and $250 cash for each all-electric (less primary heat) attachment.

Individual Residential Line Extension (
Overhead Service)

  • Mountain Electric will supply the first pole free.
  • Developer will pay $900 per primary pole for poles #2-4, $1800 per primary pole for pole #5-10, $500 for secondary poles, and $200 for service pole.
  • Rebate cash will be available at $900 for ea. All-electric attachment and $500 for each all- electric (less primary heat) attachment.
