Positions for the Mountain City office:
Mountain Electric Cooperative is seeking a dependable individual to provide front office service in the Mountain City office on a full-time basis. The primary duty of the position is to provide cashier & general office assistance. Necessary skills include excellent public relations (phone receptionist and front-counter), computer operations, accounting, accurate data entry, team player and use of business software. As a minimum, applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. The wage rate starts at $16.09 an hour. Competitive benefits include company paid medical and life insurance, 401 (k) savings, paid holidays, vacation and others.

Customer Service Job Application
Positions for the Newland office:
Mountain Electric announces an opening for the position of Line Clearance Foreman at the Newland, NC office. If interested, please apply online or a Cooperative application no later than Monday, May 12, 2025.
Must have excellent knowledge of right-of-way (ROW) maintenance practices with a minimum of 5 years’ experience. Should be skilled in areas or directing and controlling the operation and supervision of a ROW crew. Must have a thorough knowledge of line clearance pruning principles and techniques including topping and felling trees in close proximity to energized equipment. Must have practical understanding of line clearance safety standards set forth by OSHA. Must have a basic understanding of electricity and know safe working distance requirements for crew members. Must be able to recognize and know the functions of electric hardware on poles and structures. Must have a high degree of knowledge on tree species in service area, how fast they grow, how strong the wood is, etc. Must be skilled in operating all equipment used by line clearance crew. Must have knowledge in aerial rescue techniques. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid class A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) within 6 months of employment.
Wage rate will be in the range of $23.00 – $24.50 per hour with company benefits including: 401K, company paid health insurance, vacation and sick leave.
