Member Meetings

Annual Meeting : An Annual meeting is held each September for the purpose of hearing and approving reports covering the previous fiscal year, for educational and public relations purposes, and for transacting such other business as may properly come before the meeting. The meeting is generally held on the third or fourth Saturday in September, and usually includes a health fair, lunch, and entertainment. The business meeting usually starts at 1:00 P.M.   The annual meeting location rotates between the three cooperative service areas in the following order – Mountain City, Tennessee; then Newland, North Carolina; and then Roan Mountain, Tennessee. A notice of the meeting agenda including place, date and hour is provided in the September issue of the Tennessee Magazine.

District Meeting for Elections: District Meetings for Elections are held in August for the purpose of electing directors. Each district meeting is held within the said district at which a director from the district resides and will be elected by only members residing in that district. Director elections are held every three years. Notices of District Meetings are provided in the August issue of the Tennessee Magazine.

Candidates nominated by the cooperative’s nomination committee are posted in the Mountain City business office at least 30 days prior to the district election meeting. Any 10 members of the Cooperative residing in said district in which said director is to be elected, may make additional nominations by petition. Nominations by petition must be in writing with signatures listing their nominees and said petition presented to the general manager not less than 20 days prior to that district’s election. Petition nominations are posted at the same place where the list of nominations made by the nominating committee is posted. The voting is conducted by written ballot, and directors are elected to serve three-year terms.
